Representation for all NHGA Retailer and Supplier Members
John M. Dumais
NHGA was established in 1933 specifically to address the legislative needs of retail grocers in New Hampshire. While it began as a voice for the industry in the Legislature process, it quickly evolved to address regulatory issues as well. Eventually federal isues were included as well.
Today, the Association monitors, speaks for and interpets all government issues affecting the entire food distribution system in New Hampshire. NHGA maintains a full-time presence in the states capitol as well as continual communication with regional and national trade groups.
Monitored Legislative Activity
New Hampshire's Legislative process, The General Court, convenes for approximately the first six months of every year. Each year over 1,000 Bills of Intent are introduced, discussed and voted on by both House and Senate Chambers. NHGA's Government Relations Committee meets weekly to review all pending legislation and prioritizes those issues that could have a substancial impact on the food and beverage industries. The following is our current listing. For clarification on any issues or positions, please contact NHGA at (877) 669-9333.
